Overview:
Our PV & BESS Maintenance Technicians are responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial and utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and battery energy storage systems (BESS). This role ensures optimal system performance, safety, and compliance with Canadian electrical codes and industry standards.

Job Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled inspections and maintenance on PV systems (modules, inverters, racking, wiring, distribution equipment, SCADA/monitoring equipment)
- Conduct routine maintenance on BESS equipment
- Complete thermal imaging, IV curve tracing and performance testing
- Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical and communication faults
- Respond to system alarms and outages
- Replace faulty components (inverters, combiner boxes, fuses, weather sensors, monitoring equipment)
- Complete detailed service reports, maintenance logs
- System commissioning, including visual inspections, voltage and current testing, insulation testing (megger testing)
- Follow OEM specific maintenance requirements in addition to company standards and industry best practices
- Ensure strict compliance with RESCo Energy’s extensive Health & Safety Procedures & Policies
- Other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications:
- Licensed 309A Electrician mandatory
- 2-5+ years of experience with PV systems
- Working at Heights, AWP training required
- First Aid/CPR training an asset
- Electrical Engineering Technician/Technologist diploma or equivalent an asset
- Strong understanding of DC and AC electrical systems
- Familiarity with SCADA and monitoring equipment/platforms
- Ability to read and interpret SLDs and system drawings
- Proficient with electrical testing equipment including multimeters, meggers, thermal imagery, IV curve tracing and able to complete torque tests and performance evaluations
- Previous experience and knowledge of BESS systems an asset
- Experience with computer networking, IP, Wi-Fi, and cellular data communications.
Mandatory Travel Requirements:
- Valid class G Driver's License with a clean driving record
- Ability to travel daily within Ontario
- Ability to travel for up to 2 weeks within Canada
Schedule and Work Environment:
- Ability to be on-call or attend to after-hours work on rotation
- Ability to work comfortably on construction sites in various weather conditions
