We're seeking an experienced, hands-on Assistant Terminal Operations Manager to join our Operations team. In this role, you'll help lead daily terminal operations, support frontline teams, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive continuous improvements in efficiency, service, and safety.
What You’ll Do:
- Support day-to-day terminal operations, including dispatch, linehaul, and warehouse activities.
- Assist with staffing, scheduling, workflow planning, coaching, and performance management.
- Ensure effective communication and coordination to support safe, efficient, and on-time freight movement.
- Assist with payroll approvals, timekeeping, and workforce planning.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and training initiatives.
- Participate in investigations and resolution of workplace incidents, accidents, and freight claims.
- Monitor operational performance and help drive improvements in key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Ensure compliance with company policies and transportation regulations.
What You Bring:
- Post-secondary education in Logistics, Operations, Business, or a related field, plus 5+ years of progressive operations leadership experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Strong knowledge of LTL freight operations and transportation industry practices.
- Experience leading teams in a unionized environment.
- Working knowledge of National Safety Code and provincial transportation regulations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Transportation Management Systems (TruckMate experience is an asset).
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to use data and operational insights to improve performance and drive results.
- A positive, collaborative approach and a willingness to take on new challenges.
