Kit Steel is looking for a hardworking and reliable General Labourer / Machine Operator to join our rebar fabrication team at our indoor shop in Welland.
We cut, bend, bundle, and ship reinforcing steel for construction projects across Niagara and Southern Ontario. This is hands-on shop work in a busy manufacturing environment. The right candidate is dependable, safety-minded, comfortable with physical work, and willing to learn how to operate specialized rebar fabrication equipment.
Experience in construction, manufacturing, steel, rebar, or shop work is considered an asset, but we are willing to train the right person.

Shift
This is a full-time daytime position, Monday to Thursday starting at 6am.
The shift is based on four 9-hour days, for a total of 36 hours per week. Overtime may be available or required depending on production needs.
Responsibilities
- Operate or assist with rebar fabrication equipment, including benders, shearline equipment, and other shop machinery
- Cut, bend, sort, bundle, and tag rebar according to production requirements
- Tie rebar bundles with wire for shipping
- Load and unload trucks using forklifts, overhead cranes, or other material handling equipment, once trained
- Move material safely through the shop and yard
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and free from hazards
- Follow shop procedures, safety rules, and supervisor instructions
- Assist with general labour duties as required
Requirements
- Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven shop environment
- Comfortable with physical work and some heavy lifting
- Strong awareness of safety and surroundings
- Willingness to learn and take direction
- Attention to detail
- Basic math skills are an asset
- Experience in construction, manufacturing, steel, rebar tying, forklift operation, overhead crane operation, or machine operation is considered an asset
