Position Overview Focus on Visual Storytelling & Design
We are seeking a highly skilled Power BI Report Developer who excels at transforming data into clear, compelling, and visually engaging reports. This role is ideal for someone who brings a strong sense of design, a user‑centric mindset, and a passion for creating reports that feel intuitive, polished, and insightful.

What You’ll Do
- Own reports end‑to‑end: Design and develop dashboards and reports that help business users understand key insights quickly and confidently.
- Design intuitive user experiences: Create clear, visually compelling report flows, navigation patterns, and visual hierarchies that ensure users can find answers with minimal cognitive load.
- Develop robust semantic models: Build efficient, scalable Power BI datasets that initially will source its data from our SQL server legacy environment and later from our Fabric environment.
- Optimize report performance: Profile and tune reports, datasets, and DAX measures using tools such as Performance Analyzer, DAX Studio, Tabular Editor, and VertiPaq Analyzer to minimize the impact of resource usage in our Fabric environment, using best practices.
- Ensure governance and consistency: Develop and apply enterprise standards for semantic models, naming conventions, KPIs, and metric definitions to ensure consistency across reports and business domains.
- Implement row‑level security (RLS): Design and maintain security models to ensure users only see data relevant to their role or business function.
- Maintain and enhance observability: Participate to track report usage metrics, dataset performance, and data lineage using Power BI Admin tools to inform improvements and validate business value.
- Build reusable components: Create templates, themes, reusable DAX measures, and standardized layouts to speed development and ensure a consistent user experience across the organization.
- Manage CI/CD Pipelines: Make updates and enhance our existing Azure DevOps pipelines for publishing semantic models and related reports to our Fabric workspaces.
- Collaborate: You’ll collaborate with product, business, and technical teams to gather and finalize requirements, design user‑friendly report layouts, and deliver high-quality Power BI experiences that adhere to best practices in both data visualization and performance. Use wireframes, mock-ups, or prototypes to communicate design approaches.
- Document your work: Produce clear documentation covering semantic models, data sources, calculations, lineage, and report design rationale to support long‑term maintainability.
Required Skills & Experience
- Extensive hands‑on experience designing Power BI reports and dashboards with a strong portfolio showcasing optimized, visually appealing, easy to navigate , user‑friendly designs
- Deep understanding of data visualization principles, human-centered design, and storytelling
- Strong proficiency in DAX, Power Query, and efficient Power BI modeling practices
- Ability to create clean, intuitive navigation across multi‑page reports
- Experience with Power BI themes, JSON theme files, and custom visual styling
- Experience using Tabular Editor, Performance Analyzer, and related optimization tools
- Ability to work independently and confidently with evolving or loosely defined requirements
- Strong communication skills able to explain design choices clearly to technical and non‑technical audiences
Nice-to-Have Experience
- Experience with user research, usability testing, or UI/UX methodologies
- Exposure to Azure services, SQL, or other data backend technologies
- Experience with wireframing tools (Figma, Adobe XD, Balsamiq)
- Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric or modern cloud-based analytics platforms
- Hands‑on UX design experience such as crafting user flows, interaction patterns, or interface layouts that enhances how users navigate and interpret data within reports
