Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Childcare Centre Cook to join our team and ensure that children receive nutritious, balanced, and appealing meals in a safe and hygienic environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in food preparation and cooking within a food service or restaurant setting, with a strong focus on food safety and handling. This role is vital in supporting the health and well-being of children and contributing to a positive childcare experience.
Responsibilities
- Preparation of two snacks and a lunch on a daily basis
- Implement a two-week rotation of menus
- Strong knowledge of the Canada Food Guide and Day Care Nutrition and Food Service Manual
- Ensuring there is ample amount of food/food product at the centre at all times
- Preparing grocery lists
- Ensure that kitchen and equipment are kept in a clean, safe and orderly condition
- Manage time well to ensure meals are prepared and served on time
- Recognize and implement special diet/food allergies for particular children
- Washing and sterilization of dishes according to food management standards
Experience
- Prior experience in food preparation, cooking, or food service is preferred
- Background in the food industry, restaurant experience, or kitchen experience is highly desirable
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling procedures is essential
- Experience working with children or in a childcare setting is a plus but not required
- Ability to follow recipes accurately and prepare meals efficiently within scheduled times
Certfiations
- Home Health Study Certification
- First Aid in Child Care Certificate
- Police Information Check Certificate
- Child Development – Level 1 is an asset

Pay: $15.00-$18.00 per hour
