Maple Leaf Metals is an Edmonton-based metal recycling operation specializing in the purchase, processing, packaging, and resale of all types of scrap metal. Our operations include heavy equipment use, material processing, and maintaining high safety and efficiency standards across our yard.
Position Overview
We are currently seeking a reliable and hardworking Non-Ferrous (NF) Labourer to join our team. This role is responsible for sorting, processing, and preparing non-ferrous metals for shipment while maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient work environment. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, and enjoys working in a fast-paced industrial setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Sort and separate non-ferrous metals, including copper, brass, aluminum, stainless steel, lead, and other recyclable materials.
- Identify and remove contaminants from non-ferrous materials to ensure product quality.
- Assist with grading, processing, and packaging materials for shipment.
- Operate hand tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Assist with loading and unloading materials as required.
- Perform general housekeeping and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Assist with inventory organization and material storage.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and environmental regulations.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors and team members to achieve daily production goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience in a scrap metal recycling yard, warehouse, or industrial environment is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of non-ferrous metals and the ability to identify various grades is an asset.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Physically fit and capable of lifting, carrying, and performing repetitive manual labour.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Forklift experience or certification is considered an asset.
- First Aid, Elevated Work Platform (EWP), or other safety certifications are considered an asset.
Job Details
- Monday to Friday: 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- Saturdays: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM (as required)
- Full-time, permanent position
