Hawk Machine Works is a cutting-edge machine shop located in the heart of Edmonton, Alberta. Hawk Machine has two other large shops in Linden, Alberta and is rapidly growing with this expansion in Edmonton. As a leading provider of precision machining solutions, we specialize in utilizing advanced DMG-Mori CNC Machines, including 5-Axis and Swiss Machines, to meet the diverse needs of our clients. We are seeking experienced CNC Machinists for both our locations who are proficient in operating DMG-Mori CNC Machines, particularly with expertise in 5-Axis and Swiss Machines Ibarmia's and Doosans. The ideal candidates will have a solid understanding of Heidenhain and Siemens controllers and possess the skills necessary to perform 3+2 machining operations with precision and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Utilize Heidenhain and Siemens controllers to perform 3+2 machining operations
Monitor machines for efficient and optimal utilization and runtime
Perform basic machine maintenance to ensure smooth operation
Run multiple machines as required to meet production demands
Execute duties with minimal supervision, demonstrating self-reliance and initiative
Train and mentor apprentices to foster skill development and knowledge transfer
Ensure reliable completion of assigned tasks within designated timelines
Adhere to all company health and safety policies to maintain a safe work environment
Complete all required manufacturing checklists and follow standard operating procedures
Maintain tools, tooling, equipment, and working area in a clean and organized manner
Demonstrate willingness to continually improve and update skills to stay current with industry trends
Verify dimensions of machined parts or tooling using micrometers, verniers, calipers, height gauges, optical comparators, CMM, or other specialized measuring instruments
Qualifications:
High attention to detail and precision in machining operations
Demonstrated ability to follow direction and observe all procedures and safety policies
Proven ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
Strong commitment to honesty, reliability, and punctuality
Ability to act in a professional and accountable manner at all times
Capacity to demonstrate self-motivation and work effectively in a team environment
Proficiency in following written and verbal work instructions with accuracy and efficiency
Additional Skills (Preferred):
Experience with DMG-Mori CNC Machines, including 5-Axis and Swiss Machines
Familiarity with other CNC machine brands and models
Previous experience in a machining or manufacturing environment
Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and practices
Certification or training in CNC machining or related field
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
