Overview
The Melody Lab is seeking a passionate, engaging, and dedicated Piano Teacher to inspire students through fun, personalized, and confidence building music education. The ideal candidate will have experience working with young children through intermediate level students, fostering a love for music while helping students develop strong foundational piano skills, musicality, discipline, and self confidence.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys creating a positive and encouraging learning environment where students feel supported in their musical growth. We are looking for a teacher who can make learning exciting while balancing creativity, technique, and structured development.
This position is a 12 month contract and includes a retention bonus upon successful completion of the contract term.
Duties
- Develop and implement engaging piano lesson plans tailored to introductory through intermediate level students and varying learning styles
- Conduct private piano lessons focused on foundational technique, rhythm, sight reading, ear training, musicality, performance skills, and music theory
- Foster a supportive and positive environment that encourages student participation, confidence, and enjoyment of music
- Adapt teaching methods to meet the unique needs, learning pace, and goals of each student
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to parents or guardians when appropriate
- Prepare students for studio performances, recitals, and individual musical goals
- Encourage proper practice habits, confidence, and musical growth both inside and outside of lessons
- Maintain a professional, organized, and welcoming learning environment
- Collaborate with studio leadership to support student success and studio programming
Qualifications
- Previous experience teaching piano to young children and beginner to intermediate students preferred
- Strong piano performance skills and foundational knowledge of music theory and technique
- Experience working with children in an educational, musical, or classroom setting is considered an asset
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students, families, and colleagues
- Patient, engaging, dependable, and encouraging teaching style
- Ability to adapt lessons to students with varying learning styles and needs
- Background in music education, pedagogy, performance, or equivalent experience is preferred
- Passion for music education and fostering a positive, confidence building learning environment
