Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain compliance with all property standards, rules, and regulations in a professional manner.
- Exercise tact, diplomacy, and sound judgment during all interactions
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide First Aid, CPR, or AED assistance until professional responders arrive.
- Enforce and maintain access control procedures.
- Follow established emergency response protocols and standard operating procedures.
- Address trespassers or unauthorized individuals calmly, respectfully, and safely.
- Conduct routine foot patrols of the property.
- Monitor and operate CCTV surveillance systems.
- Investigate incidents, suspicious activities, and unusual occurrences.
- Prepare accurate, detailed incident reports and maintain up to date memo book entries.
- Promote and support the safety, security, and well being of patrons, staff, and clients.
- De escalate conflicts, emergencies, and crisis situations.
- Assist emergency responders and law enforcement personnel as required.
- Perform customer service duties, access control, and line management.
- Support day to day security and site operations as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 6 months- 1 year of security experience required.
- Valid Basic Security Training (BST) License.
- Experience in Retail Security or Loss Prevention is a strong asset.
- Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods (8–12 hours).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written).
- Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and strong work ethic.
- Proactive approach to identifying risks and addressing issues.
- Ability to follow management direction and site procedures.
- Calm under pressure with strong decision making abilities.
- Comfortable working in a busy, fast paced, high traffic environment.
- High attention to detail and strong observational skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and the ability to work well within a team.
- Receptive to feedback and committed to ongoing improvement.
- First Aid Level 1 is an asset but not required.
