About the Role
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Grande Prairie & Area is seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and compassionate After-School Program Facilitator to lead our BIG Horizons After-School Program.
The After-School Program Facilitator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering engaging programming for children ages 6–14. This role creates a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment where youth can build confidence, develop social and life skills, and form meaningful connections through mentorship-based programming.
Working closely with the Program Coordinator, volunteers, and community partners, the Facilitator plays a key role in delivering high-quality programming while ensuring the safety, well-being, and positive experience of every participant.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and lead engaging after-school programming for youth ages 6–14.
- Facilitate Mentor Hour, group activities, STEM projects, arts and crafts, outdoor play, and special events.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and positive environment that encourages confidence, belonging, and personal growth.
- Build positive relationships with youth, families, volunteers, mentors, and community partners.
- Support youth emotional regulation, conflict resolution, and positive behaviour using age-appropriate strategies.
- Communicate with families regarding attendance, daily updates, incidents, and participant needs.
- Complete attendance, documentation, and program updates using Lilio and other organizational systems.
- Ensure child protection standards, safety procedures, and organizational policies are consistently followed.
- Maintain clean, organized, and welcoming program spaces.
- Collaborate with the Program Coordinator and staff to continuously improve programming and participant experiences.
- Assist with PD Day programming, school breaks, summer programming, community events, fundraising initiatives, and other agency activities as required.

Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Human Services, Social Work, Education, Child & Youth Care, Recreation, or a related field is preferred.
- Equivalent education and experience working with children and youth will be considered.
- Minimum two years of experience working with children or youth is considered an asset.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
- Current First Aid & CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search (required).
- Strong organizational, communication, and computer skills.

Pay: $19.00-$23.00 per hour
