Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care is a 315-bed academic and teaching hospital that provides specialized mental health, addiction and geriatric care. Located on the shores of Georgian Bay, we serve some of the most complex and disadvantaged individuals in Ontario and are the sole provider of high-secure forensic mental health services in the province.
The Clinical Director, Acute Assessment Programs is currently seeking a Temporary Casual Smoking Cessation Coordinator. The purpose of the position is to work in collaboration in implementation of the Ottawa Model for Smoking Cessation.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Implement activities outlined in the Ottawa Model for Smoking Cessation Implementation Work Plan.

Be familiar with the implementation plan, program components, and partnership agreement.

Develop and maintain regular phone calls, face-to-face meetings, and working relationships with all key players of affiliated institutions to facilitate a smooth program implementation.

Coordinate Smoking Cessation Task Force meetings on a monthly basis, or as needed. (set agenda, invite participants, assign tasks).

Develop training schedule and implement annually and on demand for new staff.

Coordinate implementation of smoking cessation forms, policies, and guidelines in respective clinical areas, and maintain all program records.

Conduct pre- and post-implementation data collection and analysis (i.e., internal audits); prepare reports.

Provide regular reports to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute and to Co-leads on the progress of the implementation, smoking cessation consult data, smoking cessation quitting rates, and trend analysis.

Enlist support from the employee assistance program and occupational health nurse for employee smoking cessation support programs.

Troubleshoot and problem solve issues arising during program implementation and maintenance.

Collaborate as necessary with community agencies (Quit Lines, Public Health Units, Tobacco Control Area Network) to facilitate program development and integration of programs.

Collaborate with multi-disciplinary team to facilitate program launch, maintenance, and continued sustainability and share program results, ensure program sustainability with innovative and creative measures.

Provide program progress and evaluation reports on a quarterly basis for Task Force and Co- Leads.

Act as a smoking cessation resource and main contact person (must remain current).
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing or health-related discipline and current Certificate of Competence with designated College (e.g., CNO, COTO, OCSWSSW)

Three to five years related healthcare experience with strong knowledge of related clinical area and care processes

Previous experience in program implementation and coordination as well as previous experience/training in tobacco dependence treatment

High level of Microsoft software knowledge (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

Demonstrated ability to function and participate as a central member of a multi-disciplinary team

Results oriented work ethic to work independently and undertake tasks needed to accomplish work objectives and deliver quality, consistent and timely results

Demonstrated leadership, conflict resolution, interpersonal and organizational skills

Proven written and verbal communication skills

Preference for proficiency in French/English language skills
