Job Purpose:
The Welder is responsible for laying out, positioning, fitting, and welding metal components and assemblies according to engineered drawings and specifications. This role operates welding and cutting equipment, ensures weld quality meets established standards, and contributes to a safe, productive, and quality-focused manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret welding blueprints, manufacturing drawings, and welding process specifications.
- Lay out, position, fit, and secure parts and assemblies according to specifications using measuring and alignment tools such as straightedges, combination squares, rulers, and calipers.
- Perform tack welding and final welding of components and assemblies using MIG, TIG, and other welding processes as required.
- Fit and weld all supplied materials in accordance with drawings and specifications.
- Communicate with Engineering and Production when discrepancies, non-conformances, or technical issues are identified.
- Operate manual and semi-automatic welding equipment, primarily MIG wire-fed systems.
- Safely operate oxygen arc cutting (Arc-Air/OAC) equipment.
- Assess and determine the weldability of various materials.
- Operate hoisting and lifting equipment safely and effectively.
- Maintain welding equipment and perform minor repairs as required.
- Inspect completed welds to ensure compliance with quality standards, drawings, and specifications.
- Follow all company operational procedures, quality standards, environmental programs, and health and safety policies.
- Maintain inventory of all welding supplies, consumables, and related materials; notify Lead Hands or Management when stock levels require replenishment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment through good housekeeping practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Welding certification and/or a minimum of two (2) years of welding/fabrication experience.
- Previous hands-on welding experience is required.
- CWB Welding Certification is considered an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
- Ability to safely use welding, cutting, lifting, and fabrication equipment.
- Willingness and ability to work overtime as required.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 23 kg (50 lbs).

Safety Responsibilities
- Comply with all company Health & Safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Wear and properly maintain all required personal protective equipment (PPE).

- Immediately report all incidents, near misses, injuries, hazards, and unsafe conditions.
- Report all unsafe issues to:
- Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and workplace inspections as required.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
