About the Position:
We are hiring a part-time/casual Kennel Pet Care Specialist. This role will require weekends and holidays, with additional weekday shifts—especially during school breaks, summer, and peak holiday periods.
Shift times typically include:
- 7:00am–12:30/1:00pm (Morning shifts are needed as of now)
- 3:00pm–8:30/9:00pm
Applicants chosen for interviews will be contacted within two days of applying. All interviews will be conducted in person on site.
Preferred Candidates Live:
Within 20 minutes of the retreat (12 mins west of Okotoks, 6 mins east of Black Diamond).
Communities of: Okotoks, Diamond Valley and surrounding areas/acreages.
Who We’re Looking For:
You must be extremely dependable, motivated, coachable, positive, able to work independently and in a team, confident supervising up to 15-20 dogs, and physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. Must be comfortable working in all weather and have strong customer service skills.
Must Have:
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
- 18+ years of age
- Basic dog and cat handling skills
Assets:
- Pet First Aid certification
- Previous kennel/daycare/veterinary experience
- Grooming experience
- Formal training or courses in animal care
- Previous cleaning jobs
Job Duties:
- Show up on time for every shift
- Greet clients, handle drop-offs & pick-ups
- Escort animals to kennels with belongings
- Supervise dog playgroups
- Feed animals and change water
- Clean dog kennels and cat suites
- Scoop litter boxes and pick up dog waste
- Handle laundry (wash, dry, fold, restock)
- Maintain yard cleanliness
- Load/unload pet food deliveries (up to 50 lbs)
- Work in all weather
- Communicate clearly with staff
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all animals
There is a lot of cleaning involved with this job! We pride ourselves on keeping the facility clean and virus free for the animals safety and health. It's not just playing with the animals.
Qualifications:
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Experience with dogs and cats
- Comfortable supervising multiple dogs
- Excellent communication and reliability
- Ability to work weekends and holidays
Pay: $16.50-$18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 5 – 20 per week
