Are you passionate about drilling optimization, real-time data analysis, and solving complex well challenges? Join our team as an Office-Based MPD Engineer, where you'll play a critical role in planning, monitoring, and optimizing Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) operations for some of the industry's most challenging wells.
This is more than an engineering role—it's an opportunity to influence drilling performance, collaborate with industry experts, and help deliver safer, more efficient operations around the world.
As an MPD Engineer, you'll serve as the technical expert supporting drilling operations from the engineering office by:
- Develop detailed MPD engineering programs tailored to well objectives and reservoir conditions.
- Perform hydraulic modeling, pressure window analysis, and operating envelope development.
- Design contingency plans and define equipment requirements and control strategies.
- Conduct drilling risk assessments for narrow pressure margins, losses, influxes, ballooning, and other complex scenarios.
- Collaborate closely with drilling engineers and clients to integrate MPD strategies into overall well plans.
- Analyze offset well data to improve future well designs and operational efficiency.
- Monitor live MPD operations remotely and provide technical guidance to field teams.
- Analyze hydraulic trends, ECD, flow behavior, and pressure responses in real time.
- Detect early indicators of well control events, instability, or drilling inefficiencies.
- Support critical operational decisions during connections, tripping, backreaming, cementing, and other drilling activities.
- Validate engineering models using live operational data and make adjustments as needed.
- Troubleshoot technical issues while supporting safe and efficient drilling performance.
- Conduct comprehensive post-well engineering reviews.
- Evaluate hydraulic performance and system effectiveness.
- Perform Non-Productive Time (NPT) root cause analysis.
- Compare modeled versus actual well performance.
- Prepare technical reports with recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Capture lessons learned to improve future drilling campaigns.
- Present technical findings and well performance reviews to clients.
- Translate complex engineering data into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Support customers in understanding MPD strategies, pressure management, and operational optimization.
- Build trusted relationships through technical expertise and exceptional customer support.
- Identify recurring operational trends and recommend process improvements.
- Support development of engineering standards, best practices, and technical documentation.
- Participate in research, technology evaluations, and innovation initiatives.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of MPD engineering tools, workflows, and operational performance.
