Work with Partners to lead business valuation engagements including gathering relevant supporting information, analyzing industry data and economic research, preparing financial modelling and analysis, and preparing formal valuation critiques and reports for litigation, mediation, arbitration and other proceedings.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Calculate or estimate the fair market value of businesses, shareholder’s interests and/or related assets for family law, shareholder disputes, expropriations, estate disputers and other litigation matters.
- Prepare CICBV-compliant valuation mainly for litigation support purposes
- Assist with Guidelines Income calculations for self-employed individuals and business owners.
- Review and analyze financial data to find/identify discrepancies or irregularities and to assess business performance and support valuation conclusions.
- Assist with other mandates including loss quantification, insurance claims, , tort and other matters, if necessary.
- Respond to client inquiries in a timely manner
- Meet time budget and deadlines as expected per file
- Maintain appropriate legislative knowledge on an ongoing basis
- Assist with attending conferences, events, presentations and proposals
- Other duties as required
Education and Professional Skills/Knowledge:
- Bachelor’s degree majoring in Accounting, Finance or CPA designation
- Chartered Business Valuator (CBV) designation completed
- 3+ years’ experience with business valuations for owner managed business or small to medium private enterprises
- Experience with Guidelines Income, loss quantification, disputes, litigation support and insurance claims, preferred but not required
- Experience preparing critique and/or responding reports for Business Valuations
- Experience in a public accounting firm or business valuation group within a company
- Knowledge of Family Law and/or Business Valuations
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
- Highly motivated, excellent organizational/time management and communication skills with flexibility to cope with changing priorities and strict deadlines
- Strong analytical, accounting, business valuation and writing skills with attention to detail
- Bilingual in English and French preferred, not required
- Hybrid and remote options available (must be located in Canada)
