ISM Industrial Steel & Manufacturing Inc. is hiring 3 Fabricators (1 vacancy in the morning shift and 2 vacancies in the afternoon shift) for our busy steel construction company. Reports to: Shop Lead hand, Shop Supervisor, Shop Manager
Duties as a Fabricator
- Perform a daily inspection of the equipment and hand tools you are using.
- Rig, hoist and move materials with a crane to storage areas or within shop on the horses.
- Fit structural steel beams, columns, stairs and canopies.
- Instructions will be given on which contract to work on and what priority sequence to follow.
- Follow safe work procedures and act safely in the workplace at all times.
- Cooperate with joint health and safety committees, worker health and safety representatives, WorkSafe BC prevention officers, and anybody with health and safety duties.
Duties as a Welder
- Perform a daily inspection of the equipment and hand tools you are using.
- Rig, hoist and move materials with a crane to storage areas or within shop on the horses.
- Set welding tools and equipment according to the parameters listed in the welding procedure.
- Secure and fasten structural component using clamps, braces.
- Weld miscellaneous steel and large structural members.
- Carry out post welding treatment of structures by cleaning, buffing and polishing finished welds when required
- Follow quality control measures.
- Basic torch cutting of plate and angle.
- Air Arc Gouging on steel members.
- Able to weld Complete Penetration Joints.
- Examine welds, parts or final products for quality assurance
- Clean tools, equipment and work areas
- Cooperate with joint health and safety committees, worker health and safety representatives, WorkSafe BC prevention officers, and anybody with health and safety duties.
Requirements
- Red Seal Fabricator or 5+ years of fabrication experience
- Must be able to read and speak English.
- Must be able to read and interpret weld symbols on drawings.
- Basic hand and power tool knowledge required.
- Current CWB MCAW / FCAW All Position certifications preferred.
- Be able to work with little or no direct supervision.
- Overhead crane operation and safety while co-workers are working in the area of use.
- Safe and practical handling of all rigging, equipment and steel including inspection of equipment, chains, slings and other related rigging.
- Must be physically able to lift items up to 50lbs.
- Be able to be on their feet for a large part of the day
Job Type: Permanent
Pay: $34.00-$40.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
