Duties:
· Performing metal finishing duties, such as painting, chasing, surface prep, patina, and polishing
· Preparing and mixing metallizing solutions according to formulas or specifications
· Maintaining materials and consumables inventory, managing the sample process, and other departmental efficiency related duties
· Working with shop manager to ensure deadlines are met and clients’ expectations are exceeded
· Artfully applying patinas to a range of metal pieces, including steel, stainless steel, brass, and bronze.
· Applying protective coatings to surfaces made of metals
· Operating equipment to prepare workpieces with desired surface characteristics
· Polishing, buffering, and sanding metals to provide a smooth surface finish
· Using wire brushes or grinders to remove paint, corrosion, rust, or other surface impurities from metal parts
· Collaborating with team members to achieve desired finishes and effects
· Maintaining a safe and organized work environment
Requirements:
· Completion of secondary school is required
· 1 – 2 years of experience working in metal finishing is required
· Must have a good understanding of metal grades
· Experience working with steel, stainless steel, brass, bronze, and aluminum
· Must have strong communication skills (written and verbal)
· Must have excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
· Employees may be required to use respiratory protective equipment and shall co-operate in attaining an effective fit of the equipment and be clean shaven to ensure an effective facial seal to provide for the health and safety of all employees and compliance with the Ministry of Labour guidelines.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $36.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
