Van Isle Windows Ltd. is hiring a full time Warehouse person / shipper to work in our manufacturing plant located at 404 Hillside Avenue in Victoria. We have been in business since 1978, and are the largest local manufacturer and installer of quality vinyl windows and patio doors on Vancouver Island.
The Warehouse Person / Shipper is responsible for the efficient handling, storage, and distribution of finished window products and materials. This role ensures accurate order fulfillment, safe loading and unloading of trucks, and proper use of the company’s ERP system to track inventory, shipments, and deliveries. The position plays a key role in maintaining product quality and on-time delivery to customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely load and unload windows, glass units, and related materials onto delivery trucks using appropriate equipment.
- Prepare and stage orders for shipment according to delivery schedules and customer requirements.
- Coordinate and schedule deliveries to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
- Operate and maintain warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and carts.
- Accurately receive incoming shipments, verify contents against purchase orders, and report discrepancies.
- Store products in designated warehouse locations while ensuring proper handling to prevent damage.
- Utilize the ERP system to track inventory, process shipments, update order status, and maintain accurate records.
- Inspect outgoing orders to ensure quality standards and correct quantities are met.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment.
- Follow all workplace safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Communicate effectively with production, sales, and logistics teams regarding order status and shipping priorities.
- Identify and report damaged products, equipment issues, or safety concerns to supervisors.
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous warehouse or shipping experience is an asset.
- Experience handling fragile materials such as glass or windows is preferred.
- Familiarity with ERP or inventory management systems.
- Valid forklift certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and system use.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy items (up to 50–75 lbs) regularly.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
- Ability to handle large and fragile window units safely.
- Comfortable working in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures.
- Manual dexterity to handle tools, packaging materials, and equipment.
Working Conditions
