We are looking for a full time Senior Machinist in Truro, NS. Reporting to the Branch Manager. At Fundy Machining and Millwright Services, we’ve built a team of experienced machinists who take pride in their work, and we’re continuing to grow that team. We are looking for a full time Senior Machinist in Truro, NS, who will provide services both in our machine shop and on-site, using conventional machining equipment, CNC equipment, and portable machining gear.

Principle Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC and/or manual machines (lathe, mill, etc.).
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Machine components to tight tolerances.
- Maintain a safe and efficient workspace.
- Work from blueprints, drawings, and real-world parts to produce high-quality components with precision and attention to detail.
- Operate a range of manual machining equipment (lathes, mills, surface grinders, etc.) in a hands-on, skill-driven environment.
- Use precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.) to ensure every part meets exact specifications.
- Build, modify, and repair custom jigs and fixtures that support both shop and field operations.
- Diagnose and solve mechanical challenges—this is a role for someone who enjoys figuring things out, not just running parts.
- Perform preventative maintenance and equipment upkeep to keep operations running smoothly.
- Support on-site machining work when required, bringing your skills directly to the field and seeing the impact of your work firsthand.
- Eyes and Ears on the production floor for Shop Supervisor when needed.
- Support Jr Shop members when needed, help develop their skills.
- Be willing to travel out of province, when necessary, to meet customer needs on site.
Required knowledge and training
- Experience as a machinist, CNC operator, or machining technician
- Strong attention to detail and mechanical aptitude
- Customer-focused and Production-oriented results.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Red Seal is required
