Sherway Nissan is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Automotive Controller to lead the dealership’s accounting and administrative functions. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, accounting operations, payroll support, and human resources administration.
The successful candidate will be a hands-on professional with strong automotive dealership accounting experience, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to lead and mentor.
Responsibilities
Financial Management & Accounting
- Perform the day-to-day financial accounting of the dealership.
- Process and administer payroll biweekly.
- Prepare accurate monthly financial statements.
- Complete month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Balance and reconcile all general ledger schedules.
- Monitor cash flow and financial performance.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
Tax & Regulatory Compliance
- Identify Tax & Regulatory Compliance
- Prepare and submit HST and other government tax filings.
- Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local tax regulations.
- Support external auditors and year-end audit requirements.
Human Resources & Administration
- Coordinate onboarding and orientation for new hires.
- Provide HR support to dealership staff.
- Assist with recruitment, employee documentation, and administrative processes.
- Recruit, train, mentor, and supervise administrative team members.
Qualifications
- Previous automotive dealership accounting experience required.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, reconciliations.
- Working knowledge of federal, provincial, and local tax compliance regulations.
- Proven leadership and supervisory experience.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- Experience with PBS is considered a strong asset.
