We currently have an opening for a permanent, full-time Swamper to join our team. We're looking for great people with a team-oriented mindset, excellent punctuality and reliability, and who are hardworking. This position is completed outdoors in all types of weather and is very physical.
In this role, you'll be working primarily in the hydrovac department, but this role comes with diversity as well. We have multiple divisions that you'll be trained in, so you'll assist in whichever division requires help. This may involve switching from one division to another once or multiple times in a day. Adaptability and reliability are extremely important!
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Ensure safe operation of the work being completed in all aspects
- Assist with setting up on job sites, checking for potential hazards on the job, ie: overhead power lines, ground stability, blind spots, etc.
- Help guide truck and driver into position and in/ out of job sites
- Wear PPE as required, as well as protective gear/clothing
- Assist in, and prepare equipment and truck for specified job
- Knowledge of different setups, and what tools are required to accomplish the job
- Follow direction from the driver or supervisor
- Assist in maintaining and recording run sheets as required
- Regular check in’s to either dispatch or Supervisor when working in off-road situations or where you will be at remote type locations
- Assist with yard maintenance and cleanup
- Lift/ move materials, pallets, bins, etc. as required
- Provide assistance to the equipment/truck operators
- Assisting with door-to-door collection of garbage, recycling, and organics in a safe and efficient manner
- Ability to safely lift, move and empty garbage toters
- Continuously entering and exiting the residential collection vehicle throughout the day
- Assist with servicing, cleaning, and moving of portable toilets
- Work in all types of weather; potential for overtime, emergency call-outs, and weekends
- Maintain a professional, courteous, and respectful attitude
- Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations
- Practice safe work procedures at all times
- Perform other duties as assigned
Specific Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum 1-year experience in hydrovac swamping
- Strong communication skills
- Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality
- Ability to establish work priorities to ensure deadlines are met
- The ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
- Good problem-solving/decision-making skills
- Physically fit; able to perform a physically demanding job
- Able to work in various outdoor weather conditions (year-round)
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
