Hiring Part-Time Crossing Guard - Zurich

The Municipality of Bluewater is seeking a dependable and safety-conscious Crossing Guard to help students safely cross at a designated school crossing in Zurich. This part-time role is ideal for individuals who value safety, enjoy working with the public, and want to make a positive difference while earning extra income.
What You’ll Do
- Assist students in safely crossing the street at a specified location.
- Monitor traffic and follow established safety procedures.
- Communicate effectively with students, pedestrians, and motorists
- Report safety concerns and unsafe conditions.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma.
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check (prior to employment).
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication skills and willingness to work with the public.
- Ability to maintain awareness of approaching traffic at a safe distance (approximately 300 feet)
- Ability to move briskly within an intersection and hold a stop sign for extended periods.
Assets:
- Standard First Aid/CPR certificate
- Flexibility to accept last-minute shifts.
Compensation & Hours:
Pay: $18.78 to $23.48 per hour, with optional OMERS pension enrollment.
School Year Schedule (September to June - Monday to Friday)
- Morning: 8:20 a.m.–8:50 a.m.
- Afternoon: 3:10 p.m.–3:40 p.m.
Location: Zurich, Ontario
Note: This position may be scheduled for 2 days per week, with the option to work more depending on availability and operational needs.
