Experienced Abatement and Demolition Worker (Type 2 / Type 3) – Subcontractor
Location: Ottawa, ON
Job Type: Subcontract / Project-Based
Compensation: Hourly, based on experience, capability, and reliability

We are a demolition and abatement company focused on clean, controlled, and professional work across residential, commercial, retail, and institutional projects.
Our work ranges from full interior demolition (retail/commercial gut) to controlled abatement in containment environments.
ROLE OVERVIEW
We are looking for an experienced demolition worker with strong abatement experience, capable of handling both:
- Full interior demolition (retail / commercial spaces)
- Controlled abatement work (Type 2 / Type 3 environments)
You must be able to switch between:
- fast-paced demolition
- controlled, procedure-driven work
depending on project requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform full interior demolition (retail and commercial gut projects)
- Execute selective demolition in controlled environments
- Work inside containment systems (poly, zippers, negative air setups) when required
- Assist with or perform abatement work (asbestos / contaminated materials)
- Remove drywall, ceilings, flooring, fixtures, framing, and finishes as per scope
- Install and maintain site protection and containment systems
- Maintain a clean, organized, and controlled work area
- Follow Ontario safety and abatement procedures
- Communicate clearly with supervisor regarding scope and progress
REQUIREMENTS (MANDATORY)
- Minimum 2–3 years demolition experience
- Proven experience working in abatement environments (Type 2 minimum)
- Strong understanding of:
- containment setup
- negative air
- decontamination procedures
- Ability to work independently and follow scope accurately
- Physically capable of demanding manual labour
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- WHMIS & Working at Heights (or willingness to obtain)
PRIORITY / PREFERRED (STRONGLY WEIGHTED)
- Type 3 abatement experience (Ontario) — priority will be given
- Asbestos training (certificate preferred)
- Experience in:
- retail demolition
- commercial / institutional environments
- Ability to set up containment independently
- Experience leading small scopes
- Valid CCQ card
PPE / EQUIPMENT
- Basic PPE expected (CSA boots, gloves, etc.)
- Respirator preferred
- All specialized equipment and containment materials are provided
