Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Forestry Technician to join our forestry operations team. The successful candidate will assist with forest management activities, field data collection, road and block layout, environmental monitoring, and supporting sustainable forestry practices.
Responsibilities
- Conduct field surveys and collect forestry data
- Assist with timber cruising, block layout, and road layout
- Monitor harvesting operations to ensure compliance with forestry regulations and company standards
- Identify and assess timber, vegetation, and site conditions
- Use GPS, mapping software, and forestry equipment for data collection and reporting
- Assist with silviculture activities and reforestation programs
- Prepare reports, maps, and documentation as required
- Ensure environmental and safety standards are followed at all times
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, contractors, and field crews
Qualifications
- Previous forestry or field experience considered an asset
- Knowledge of forestry operations, regulations, and safety practices
- Experience with GPS, GIS, and mapping software is an asset
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently in remote outdoor environments
- Valid driver’s license required
- Physically able to work in varying weather and terrain conditions
