Position Summary
Hishkoonikun Education Authority is seeking a caring, dedicated, and qualified Special Education Teacher to support students with diverse learning needs. The successful candidate will create inclusive learning environments, develop individualized learning strategies, and work collaboratively with school staff, families, and community supports.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Support students with academic, behavioral, emotional, and social needs
- Adapt lessons and classroom activities to meet student abilities
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff
- Maintain student records and progress reports
- Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Education or equivalent teaching degree
- Valid teaching certification in Ontario
- Special Education qualifications preferred
- Experience working with children and youth with diverse learning needs
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Knowledge of Indigenous culture and communities is considered an asset
