The Assessment Counsellor, under the direction of the Program and Regional Managers, is primarily responsible for interviewing and speaking with participants to determine their readiness for entering the workforce. The counsellor will be required to meet with the participants throughout their time in the program to assess their progress. He or she will meet with instructors to determine individual progress and any challenges. The Assessment Counsellor will be responsible for determining if the clients are ready, willing, and able to enter the workforce with the ultimate end result of helping the client gain independence and confidence through employment. The Assessment Counsellor will be responsible for all government documentation and communicating with all internal and external support services to discuss an appropriate client investment plan.
- Post-secondary degree in a related field
- 2 to 5 years of work experience in counselling
- Understanding of domestic violence issues
- Strong counselling skills with a focus on workplace re-entry
- Able to deal pleasantly and effectively with a wide range of people of different ages and cultures, in potentially volatile and emotionally charged situations
- Computer literacy skills
- Sound knowledge of crisis intervention and conflict resolution techniques is required
- A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills
- High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Politically and culturally sensitive
- High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts
- Strong morals and ethics, along with a commitment to privacy

Pay: $55,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
