We are seeking a 3D Printer (Sand) Technician to join our Edmonton foundry shop. This role is responsible for operating, programming, maintaining, and supporting post-processing activities for sand mold 3D printing used in foundry production. The successful candidate will be safety-focused, detail-oriented, technically capable, and comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
Job specific training will be provided to the successful candidate
- Operate additive manufacturing equipment.
- Produce sand cores and molds for casting applications.
- Support process improvement and technology development initiatives.
- Contribute to the growth of Demir Engineering’s additive manufacturing capabilities.
- Work collaboratively with engineering, production, and quality teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate the ExOne 3D printer to produce sand cores and molds for casting.
- Program, set up, and monitor print jobs according to production requirements.
- Clean and maintain ExOne equipment in accordance with regular and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Monitor and manage raw materials required for current and future production needs.
- Maintain tools, spare parts, electrical consumables, and mechanical consumables required for the workstation.
- Manage and handle waste produced by ExOne equipment.
Additional duties may include:
- Complete post-processing activities, including cleaning, refractory coating, mould assembly, clamping, flasking, and support for shakeout activities.
- Work with the engineering team to design and build tools and equipment for in-house foundry and manufacturing operations.
- Provide technical input to support the design of tools and equipment for customer projects.
- Act as a lead hand and support engineering and production teams as required.
- Support the Quality Assurance Manager and engineering team in maintaining company QMS requirements.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized production environment, and take timely action to correct unsafe work conditions.
- Attend training to stay current with emerging technologies and process improvements.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the manager.
Required Qualifications and Attributes
- Experience in a foundry or steel mill environment is considered an asset.
- Experience operating heavy equipment , including overhead cranes, forklifts, and skid steers considered an asset
- Comfortable working with technology, production equipment, and hands-on manufacturing process
- Experience with any 3D printers would be beneficial
- Experience operating and maintaining CNC or manual machines considered an asset
- Detail-oriented, process-driven, and committed to producing high-quality work.

- Able to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Schedule
- Monday to Friday; weekends, backshifts, and overtime may be assigned.
