Our client, a leading mining organization is looking for a Senior Accountant to join them on a 12 month contract. The role will be working hybrid 3 days at their offices in downtown Toronto.
Responsibilities

Manage month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.

Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.

Support the Oracle ERP implementation by participating in testing, validating financial data, and assisting with process improvements.

Collaborate with Finance, IT, and project teams to ensure a smooth system transition.

Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve internal controls.

Assist with issue resolution during the implementation and post-go-live stabilization.

Support ad hoc financial analysis and reporting requests as required.

Maintain compliance with accounting policies and internal controls throughout the transformation process.
Qualifications

CPA designation preferred.

5+ years of progressive accounting experience in a Senior Accountant or similar role.

Experience working within the mining, natural resources, or asset-intensive industry is considered a strong asset.

Strong experience with Oracle ERP or another large enterprise ERP system (SAP, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.).

Previous involvement in an ERP implementation, upgrade, or finance transformation project is highly preferred.

Strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting and month-end close processes.
