Job Summary
The Packaging Lead Hand is a role that brings depth of knowledge in equipment set-up, troubleshooting, minor repairs and adjustments as well as operator supervision and production relief support as required. The successful candidate will oversee daily manufacturing operations within a GMP-regulated environment, ensuring production targets are met while maintaining compliance with quality standards, safety requirements, and ERP system processes. This role leads a team of production technicians, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and ensures accurate and timely documentation. Attention to detail is critical; a quality, safety and productivity mindset is paramount and interpersonal / communication skills must be well developed. In addition to leading the production team, the successful candidate will be expected to actively participate in production and work alongside team members on the line as operational needs require.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of production technicians to meet production schedules and performance targets
- Ensure all manufacturing activities comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), SOPs, and regulatory requirements
- Perform and oversee hands-on line setup, changeovers, and startup activities to ensure equipment is properly configured, production-ready and operating efficiently
- Coordinate and support routine line maintenance and minor equipment troubleshooting to minimize downtime
- Monitor production processes to ensure product quality, consistency, and efficiency
- Maintain production records, logbooks, and documentation
- Ensure documentation is completed accurately and within required timelines
- Utilize and maintain data integrity within the ERP system for production orders, inventory transactions, and reporting
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Train, coach, and evaluate team members to ensure competency and adherence to procedures
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams to resolve issues and optimize operations
- Enforce workplace health and safety policies and promote a culture of safety and compliance
- Support audits (internal and external) and ensure readiness at all times
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve quality
- Assist with production planning and staging of production materials
- Perform other tasks as necessary and as directed by the Production Manager.
- Report any issues to management

Skills and Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, Manufacturing, or a related field
- 3–5+ years of experience in a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment
- Previous supervisory or team lead experience preferred
- Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar)
- Strong understanding of GMP, documentation practices, and regulatory compliance
- Experience with production line setup, changeovers, and basic maintenance activities
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and leadership skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
