Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accountant to join our Toronto team. This role supports the Controller and finance team across a portfolio of real estate development projects and corporate entities. The ideal candidate has solid accounting fundamentals, hands-on experience with full-cycle accounting, and the ability to contribute in a fast-paced development environment.
Responsibilities
- Full-Cycle Accounting: Manage accounts payable/receivable, general ledger maintenance, and perform regular bank reconciliations.
- Tax & Compliance: Assist with HST filings and support the preparation of corporate tax working papers and related documentation.
- Project Accounting: Track construction costs, process invoices, and support job costing analysis to monitor project performance against budgets.
- Financial Reporting: Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparation of internal financial reports and account reconciliations.
- Cash Flow & Banking: Monitor bank balances and support basic cash flow tracking for ongoing projects.
- Audit & Documentation: Maintain organized financial records and assist in preparing audit schedules and supporting documents.
- Process Improvement: Support the maintenance and improvement of Excel-based tracking tools and internal workflows.
Qualifications
- Experience: 2-4 years of accounting experience (Real Estate or Construction industry preferred)
- Education: Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Technical Skills: Strong Excel skills; experience with accounting software is an asset
- Knowledge: Understanding of Canadian accounting principles
- Language: English and Mandarin are required
- Attributes: Detail-oriented, responsible, and able to manage multiple tasks in a structured office environment
