About the Role
Rapid Concrete is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Dispatcher to join our team. As the central hub of our daily operations, you will manage customer orders, optimize delivery schedules, and maintain seamless communication with our drivers. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, possesses strong geographical knowledge of the area, and excels at delivering exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
Order Scheduling & Customer Service
- Customer Support: Answer incoming calls in a polite, courteous, and respectful manner, providing pricing information and advising on specific concrete mix types.
- Order Management: Accurately record orders on pre-printed forms and enter/modify them into the company’s computer-based dispatch system.
- Volume Calculation: Input job measurements into specialized software to verify and ensure proper product volumes are ordered.
- Pricing & Quotes: Provide established product quotes to customers; escalate unique pricing requests or special considerations to the Operations Manager.
- Relationship Building: Foster strong, lasting relationships with clients to ensure Rapid Concrete remains their preferred ready-mix supplier.
Logistics & Driver Dispatch
- Fleet Scheduling: Utilize the dispatch system to schedule delivery drivers, dispatch ready-mix loads, maximize available resources, and maintain high service standards.
- Driver Communication: Maintain continuous radio and text communication with drivers to provide real-time guidance, problem-solve, and answer questions.
- Route Navigation: Map out delivery directions as needed, paying strict attention to local Road Bans and transportation restrictions.
Health & Safety
- Conduct all daily duties in a manner that ensures a safe and healthy working environment for yourself and your team.
- Adhere strictly to all corporate policies, procedures, and guidelines outlined in the Company Health & Safety Manual.
Qualifications & Skills
- Industry Knowledge: Solid working knowledge of concrete mixes, their applications, and common admixtures is highly preferred.
- Technical Proficiency: Comfortable working with computer-based dispatching systems, calculation software, and digital communication tools (radio/text).
- Strong Communication: Exceptional verbal communication skills with a customer-first attitude.
- Logistics Mindset: Ability to map routes effectively, understand local road regulations (Road Bans), and multitask under pressure.
- Detail-Oriented: High level of accuracy in data entry and order processing.
