The Manual Machinist works with a team of machinist in the component reman division and utilizes a variety of machines to prep and finish rods, barrels, glands, and pistons to required customer and internal specifications.
Key responsibilities:
- Performing tasks such as boring, key way cutting, profile machining and threading
- Reading blueprints and work orders.
- Calculating dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments.
- Measuring, examining, and testing completed units to ensure the requirements are met by using precision instruments.
- Setting up, adjusting, and operating all basic machine tools and other specialized tools to perform daily machining operations.
- Monitoring the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
- Observing operating machines and equipment to prevent, and if needed, diagnose machine malfunctions requiring maintenance, adjustments, or repair.
Qualifications:
- Journeyman certificate preferred, will accept Apprentices. Preference will be given to those with manual experience in a repair environment.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in machining.
- Knowledge of manual lathes, mills, drill presses, and precision measuring tools.
- Able to lift 50 lbs.
- Available to work overtime as and when required
