The Engineer-in-Training (EIT) plays a key role in supporting the assessment, design, and construction review of building envelope systems for residential, commercial, and institutional buildings. Under the guidance of senior engineers and project managers, you will be responsible for attending site investigations and field reviews as well as contributing to the delivery of high-quality, technically sound, and cost-effective solutions for our clients.
- Conduct on-site building envelope condition assessments and forensic investigations.
- Assist in the preparation of technical reports, design drawings, and specifications.
- Perform field testing (e.g., water penetration, adhesion, infrared thermography) and document results.
- Support the development of repair and rehabilitation strategies for existing buildings.
- Participate in construction site reviews and prepare field review reports.
- Assist in the preparation of tender documents and review of contractor bids.
- Monitor construction progress and compliance with design specifications.
- Perform hygrothermal, thermal, and energy modeling using industry-standard tools.
- Research and evaluate new materials, systems, and technologies in building envelope design.
- Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, mechanical consultants, and contractors.
- Assist in preparing presentations and attending client meetings (after hours from time to time).
- Maintain organized project documentation and contribute to quality assurance processes.
- Support internal knowledge sharing and contribute to technical standards development.
- Observe Safe Operating Procedures (SOP's) when working on site; assist with development of SOP's for new scopes of work
- Ensure Hazard Id's are determined/recorded before any project fieldwork is started.

- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Building Science, or a related field.
- 0-2 years' work experience, preferably in the construction industry.
- Registered or eligible for registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with EGBC.
- Strong interest in building science and envelope systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar software is an asset.
- A Valid class 5 driver's license and access to a vehicle for site visits.
In compliance with the B.C. Pay Transparency Act, the expected salary range for this position is between $55,000 to $65,000*.
- Multiple factors such as qualifications, overall experience and position responsibilities will be used to determine the successful candidate's actual salary within the expected range.
