Our client is presently looking to hire an Assistant Controller for an 18 month contract. This is an excellent role for an Accountant looking to move up in their career.
Job Summary
Accounting professional
Ideally a CPA or CPA Candidate (asset)
3+ years of relevant experience in a similar role
Experience in a manufacturing SMB an asset
Autonomous, attention to detail and able to take initiative
Experience managing people as asset (interest in engaging/coaching people is a must)
High level of organization in order to meet key deadlines and manage projects
Continuous improvement mindset and ability to easily adopt new technologies
Ability to Lead and Manage towards maintaining an Accountable team
Description of Position
Key support to the Controller and CFO in overseeing financial operations
Preparing and consolidating monthly financial statements of multiple companies in accordance with ASPE
Overseeing month-end close procedures to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
Managing all aspects of the general ledger including account reconciliations and analysis
Reviewing all journal entries prepared by team and ensuring completeness and accuracy
Analyzing and reporting P&L variances
Key support in budgeting and forecasting
Supervising and supporting Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
Directly supervises Accounting Analyst as well as resources in AP and AR (approx 4 in total)
Identify and drive process improvements within accounting department
Coordinating external audits
Review departmental metrics via scorecard and measurables
Identify, discuss, and solve departmental issues
Work closely with other departments on various business needs
Reports to the Controller
