Marine Mechanic
Albion Marine is a project management and engineering company. The company specializes in retrofits, upgrades and vessel operation support activities.
We are looking to hire 2-3 Marine Mechanic for casual on-call employment for a project for 2 months in USA.
The Marine Mechanic performs maintenance, reengineering and repairs on the vessels as directed by engineers ensuring ships are appropriately maintained in seaworthy condition.
Duties and Accountabilities
- Responds to troubleshooting requests.
- Visits the vessel onsite to inspect and repair the issue.
- Performs repair inspections and determines repair solutions, including scope, method, budget and timing of repair. The repair includes engines, pumps, compressors and other machinery, as well as mechanical devices and systems.
- Ensures work is performed in accordance with the company’s safety policy, and all applicable rules and regulations adhere.
- Performs additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
The Engineer (Mechanical) performs a broad range of discipline-specific assignments. The potential resources required for the Mechanical Engineering Discipline may include, but is not limited to:
Mechanical Engineer III (minimum 5 years post-secondary previous experience in marine or naval system engineering and/or another relevant mechanical field) – 3 positions.
Skills, Knowledge and Required Competencies
- Knowledge of marine emergency procedures and other applicable regulations.
- Mechanical, hydraulics, and electrical trades skills. Knowledge of steel working and welding is an asset.
- Ability to balance priorities and needs with available resources.
- Organizational, planning and problem-solving skills.
- Interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
Must have Experience with the following systems:
a) Bilge, Ballast & Oily Water
b) Compressed Air
c) Sea water and Fresh water cooling
d) Chilled water, Tempered Water, Refrigeration
e) Domestic Plumbing: fresh water, black and grey water drainage
f) Exhaust
g) Fire protection
h) Fuel oil and lube oil
i) HVAC
j) Hydraulics
k) Machinery Arrangements
l) Mission specific deck mounted equipment such as cranes, davits, winches etc. Noise and vibration abatement
m) Pipe Material Specification
n) Propulsion
o) Roll Stabilization
p) Uncontaminated sea water distribution for scientific use
q) Ship bubblers
r) Vents, Drains & Overflows
Familiarity with the following software is an asset:
a) Autocad
b) CADMATIC
c) Navisworks
d) Pipe Flow Expert
