The Orchards Residents Association (ORA) is seeking a motivated and reliable individual for a temporary full-time Park Maintenance Staff position funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Program. This position provides valuable hands-on experience in facility operations, park maintenance, customer service, and community recreation services.
The ORA is a not-for-profit corporation whose purpose is to manage, maintain, and operate community amenities for residents. The ORA owns and operates a 5-acre park featuring a splash park, picnic area, pleasure skating rink, hockey rink, skate change area, maintenance shop/office, and a 12,000-square-foot recreational facility that includes flex rooms, kitchen space, offices, and change rooms.

Position Details:

Key Responsibilities
Administrative Functions:
· Provide exceptional customer service to residents and visitors.
· Complete administrative tasks as directed by management.
· Maintain accurate logs, inspection records, and reports.
· Support staff with community programming and special events.
Operations & Maintenance Functions:
· Assist with the daily maintenance and operations of ORA facilities, grounds, and amenities to ensure they remain clean, safe, and welcoming.
· Perform general park and grounds maintenance duties.
· Assist with outdoor rink maintenance, including flooding, snow clearing, ice resurfacing, and minor board repairs (seasonal as required).
· Perform snow clearing and removal tasks including shoveling and related duties.
· Conduct regular inspections of facilities and grounds and report maintenance or safety concerns to the Facilities and Amenities Manager.
· Assist with seasonal setup and takedown of amenities and recreational spaces.
· Operate and maintain various equipment and tools safely and efficiently (training provided).
· Perform routine scheduled equipment maintenance.
· Follow all workplace safety procedures and operational guidelines.
· Work independently and collaboratively with team members with minimal supervision.

Qualifications:

· Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are considered an asset.
· Previous experience in park maintenance, landscaping, recreation, or a related field is an asset but not required.
· Must be legally entitled to work in Canada and meet eligibility requirements for the Canada Summer Jobs Program.
Working Conditions:
· This position is primarily outdoors and requires adaptability to varying weather conditions.
· Duties may involve lifting, bending, standing for extended periods, and performing manual labour.
· Evening and weekend work will be required.
Pay: $18.00-$18.50 per hour
