Pastry Chef
A HACCP commercial bakery located in Etobicoke is looking for a Pastry Chef to join our team.
Position: Pastry Chef (approx 35-40 hours per week)
Type: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: Monday-Friday (daytime hours) – NO WEEKENDS/HOLIDAYS
Location: Etobicoke near Kipling Station
Pastry Chefs are responsible to follow the recipes and instructions to ensure good quality product is produced at all times.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for safety of the operation of the equipment.
- Responsible for reporting any equipment malfunctions immediately to the Manager.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean work area and free of hazards.
- Responsible for maintaining small tools in a safe place such as knives, thermometers, utensils, etc.
- Responsible in operating and maintaining scales, following start-up and change over procedures.
- Follow the mixing procedures without changing or modifying.
- Responsible in inspecting the raw materials prior to use and record observation on the checklist.
- Completing records in a timely manner as well as pre-operational inspection sheet and reporting and discrepancies
- Ensures the proper cleaning of equipment.
- Work closely with other bakers on the line.
- Practicing and adhering to Food Safety, GMP’s (Good Manufacturing Practices) and Health and Safety.
- Job duties are not limited to the above and other reasonable duties may be assigned by the Bakery Manager.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of mixing formulas pertaining to baked goods.
- Knowledge in Equipment Safety (Mixer, Depositor, Scale, Oven etc.) and practices
- Knowledge of thermometers and their care.
- Ability to multi-task by handling various production demands.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures for Health and Safety & GMP.
- Ability to prioritize especially with frequent changes.
- Lifting ability up to 50 pounds
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must be able to communicate in Basic English, both verbal and written.
- Have the ability to stand and/or stoop for the full shift.
- Ability to work holidays and weekends if needed.
- Regular, dependable attendance is an essential function of this position.
- One year work experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is an asset.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $18-20 per hour
