A note from our President:
“We’re a small team that punches way above our weight. If you’ve ever been frustrated watching great ideas get stuck in bureaucracy, you’ll love it here because we ship! Most engineers spend their careers building things users tolerate. We're building things they depend on- the kiosk someone walks up to at a conference of 5,000 people, the dashboard an organizer is staring at backstage, the badge that prints the moment someone checks in. When our software works, nobody notices. When it doesn't, the whole event feels it. That pressure is what makes this job genuinely exciting. We're a small team, we move fast, and we're looking for someone who wants to own real problems- not tickets. Come build something people genuinely love using"
Who we are:
PheedLoop powers live events around the world. From intimate campus summits to major trade shows, we give organizers the tools to run smarter, more connected events - check-in kiosks, badge printing, mobile apps, and engagement tools that work together as a single ecosystem.
We're not building software people use by obligation. Event organizers choose PheedLoop because it works when it matters most; and that bar pushes us to build better every day.
Why this role is different:
This isn't a role for someone who wants to execute someone else's vision. It's for someone who wants to help build it. You'll work side by side with PheedLoop's founders and leadership team not through a chain of managers, but directly. Your technical decisions will shape the product, the team, and the company's next chapter.
- You talk to real customers. No proxy PMs filtering feedback. You'll hear directly from organizers and ship things that fix real problems fast.
- Your code goes live in days, not quarters. We move at startup speed with the customer base to prove it.
- You own the whole problem. From database model to the pixel an organizer taps on the day of their event that's yours.
- You'll help shape the team. This is a role with genuine mentorship responsibility: influencing how we hire, what our standards look like, and how we grow.
What You’ll Build Every Day:
- Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team, creating a culture of ownership, speed, collaboration, and technical excellence.
- Coach, mentor, and develop engineers so they do the best work of their careers while raising the bar across the team.
- Stay hands-on in the codebase, contributing across our full stack using Python / Django and TypeScript / React.
- Architect and scale reliable systems that power mission-critical experiences for customers around the world.
- Guide the team in building fast, secure, and scalable APIs, services, and integrations.
- Turn ambitious product ideas into shipped reality by aligning engineering execution with business priorities.
- Lead technical planning, architecture reviews, and smart engineering decisions that set us up for long-term success.
- Drive releases to AWS, improve CI/CD pipelines, and help the team ship faster with confidence.
- Partner closely with Product, Customer Success, Sales, and Leadership to solve real customer problems with great software.
- Improve engineering processes, coding standards, testing practices, and technical documentation across the organization.
- Identify opportunities to leverage AI, automation, and modern tools to multiply team output and product quality.
- Represent engineering as a trusted voice across the company and with strategic external partners.
Skills We’re Looking For:
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years leading teams, mentoring engineers, or managing delivery.
- Strong people leadership skills; you know how to motivate, coach, hire, and build trust within a team.
- Proven ability to balance management responsibilities while staying technically sharp and hands-on when needed.
- Strong backend experience with Python / Django or similar frameworks building production-grade systems.
- Strong frontend experience with React, modern JavaScript frameworks, and scalable UI architecture.
- Deep understanding of system design, scalability, reliability, and building software that performs under real-world load.
- Experience with AWS, cloud infrastructure, deployments, monitoring, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong API and integration experience, including third-party systems and distributed workflows.
- Solid database knowledge across SQL, ORMs, schema design, and performance optimization.
- High standards for clean code, maintainability, testing, and long-term technical health.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify technical topics for non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong product instincts- you understand business goals, customer pain points, and how engineering drives outcomes.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift, speed matters, and ownership is expected.
- Curious, forward-thinking, and excited about AI, automation, and the future of software development.
Nice to Have:
- Experience leading engineering teams in a high-growth startup or SaaS environment.
- Experience scaling teams, systems, and processes through rapid growth stages.
- Experience integrating AI/ML technologies into modern web applications.
- Track record of building strong engineering culture in lean, high-performing teams.
Perks that hit different:
Enjoy 100% employer-paid health coverage, because your well-being matters.
Work from an office directly connected to the TTC subway, making your commute smooth and stress-free.
Join team lunches, learning opportunities, and regular outings that make growth and networking part of the job.
Clear path to technical leadership as the team scales
Be part of an ambitious, high-performance culture surrounded by people who love building big things.
