Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Specialist to support the Company's accounting operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction accounting, including progress billing, holdbacks, job costing, work-in-progress reporting, and percentage-of-completion accounting.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounting in QuickBooks Online
- Handle accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, and reconciliations
- Prepare and track progress billings and construction holdbacks
- Maintain job-costing records and monitor project costs against budgets and contracts
- Prepare work-in-progress schedules and calculate percentage of completion
- Track overbillings, underbillings, change orders, and estimated costs to complete
- Process payroll and related remittances
- Prepare GST and PST filings
- Assist with month-end, year-end, and financial reporting
- Maintain organized project and accounting documentation
Qualifications
- Previous accounting or bookkeeping experience in the construction industry
- Experience with progress billing, holdbacks, job costing, and percentage-of-completion accounting
- Understanding of work-in-progress schedules, overbillings, underbillings, and change orders
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Valid Canadian work permit
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality.
- Fluent in English; ability to understand Spanish is an asset
