The U.S. Trade Policy and Negotiations Unit manages Ontario's engagement on U.S. trade policy and negotiations. This includes responding to U.S. trade policy actions that impact the province such as tariffs and trade disputes, and supporting Ontario participation in negotiations relating to the Canada-U.S.-Mexico (CUSMA) agreement and sub-national agreements with U.S. states.
In this role, you'll be working with David Pal, an experienced trade policy manager in Ontario across international and domestic trade files.

You have:
- general knowledge of trade policy principles and agreements
- an understanding of domestic and international trade agreements
- knowledge of federal and provincial trade policy priorities and strategies
You have:
- knowledge and experience with policy development principles and techniques
- experience with interpreting and applying policy, procedures and legislation
You can:
- apply experience with various research methodologies and techniques to gather qualitative and quantitative data, conduct environmental scans and identify trends and emerging issues
- research and interpret trade agreement/policies to clearly identify and communicate the issues and recommend solutions
- contribute to the development of innovative programs, implementation plans and standards/guidelines
You have:
- experience with creating and managing relationships with internal and external partners
- consultation skills and can provide appropriate advice on policies, standards and programs to stakeholders
- developed communication skills to respond to issues, provide recommendation and prepare reports using a variety of computer software
- presentation skills to create, lead and present research findings to senior management
You can:
- plan, organize, and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines ands shifting priorities
- participate in project planning and tracking
