Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Dietary Services Manager to oversee food service operations within our facility. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of food preparation and safety protocols, and a background in long term care management. This role involves supervising staff, ensuring high-quality food service, and maintaining compliance with health standards to deliver exceptional dining experiences for our residents or clients.
Duties
- Manage daily food service operations, including menu planning, preparation, and presentation
- Manage and monitor adherence to MOLTC regulations, Public Health, Accreditation, etc.
- Supervise kitchen staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations
- Oversee food handling procedures to ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards
- Coordinate with dietary staff to develop menus that meet nutritional guidelines and resident preferences
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and dining areas
- Maintain inventory levels, order supplies, and manage food costs effectively
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing resident or client concerns promptly and professionally
- Implement food safety protocols and conduct regular staff training on hygiene practices
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to meet dietary needs of residents
- Lead efforts in maintaining a positive team environment that promotes high standards of service
Qualifications
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, and food service management within a long term care setting
- Supervising experience in a kitchen or food service environment
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper handling procedures
- Background in long term care management preferred
- Excellent customer service skills with a focus on resident satisfaction
- Experience with menu development, inventory control, and cost management
- Familiarity with the food industry standards and best practices in kitchen operations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and quality standards
- Membership in the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management required
- Secondary School Diploma as well as Food and Nutrition Management or equivalent required
