About us
Bedford Medical Alert (Bedford Security Systems Inc.) is a Toronto based provider of medical alert systems with 24/7 Canadian monitoring, helping seniors across Ontario live safely and independently at home. Our team brings three generations of experience and treats every client like family.
About the role
You are the face of Bedford across Eastern Ontario. You will visit senior clients at home to set up their medical alert systems, keep their equipment working, and make sure they feel confident using it. The role runs on anchored weekly route days in Peterborough, Kingston and the Belleville area, with some visits arranged through community health partners and occasional visits elsewhere in Eastern Ontario. Between route days you will help clients by phone, prepare device shipments, and look after a small local equipment inventory so clients get fast exchanges without waiting on Toronto.
What you will do
- Install and set up medical alert systems in clients' homes, including base units, pendants, wristbands and fall detection devices
- Complete device swaps, exchanges, battery replacements and accessory service visits
- Test every system with our monitoring centre before you leave, so the client is fully protected
- Walk clients and their families through how their system works, at a pace that suits them
- Plan efficient multi stop routes across your anchored route days, and keep one slot open for urgent visits
- Look after local device inventory: stock your route kit, keep our regional device caches counted and topped up, and recover devices for return or refurbishment
- Help clients with simple troubleshooting by phone between visits
- Record visit outcomes and equipment details accurately after each visit
- Represent Bedford with warmth, patience and professionalism in every home
What you bring
- You live in or near the Peterborough, Kingston, Belleville corridor and are comfortable with regular highway driving in all seasons
- A patient, senior friendly manner: you are comfortable taking the time each client needs
- A valid Ontario G driver's licence, a reliable vehicle and appropriate insurance
- Comfort working independently in clients' homes and managing your own route
- Basic hands on aptitude with simple electronics; we provide full training on our equipment
- A smartphone for scheduling and visit records
- Successful completion of a vulnerable sector check is a condition of hire (arranged after a conditional offer; we cover the cost, and a current check is an asset)
- Experience in home care, personal support, medical equipment or alarm service is an asset, not a requirement
What we offer
- $24.00 to $27.00 per hour (at full 40 hour weeks, roughly $50,000 to $56,000 per year)
- Health and dental benefits
- Kilometre reimbursement for work driving
- Steady full time hours with advance scheduling and route days close to home
- Full training on our systems and procedures
- Work that matters to seniors and their families every single day
