Our client a highly respected and complex multi-entity organization in the GTA is looking for a Director of Finance for a 6 months contract. This role requires a hands-on finance leader with strong experience in financial reporting, accounting operations, FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, audits, controls, and team leadership. The successful candidate will oversee reporting across multiple entities, support investment-related finance activities, drive process improvements, enhance reporting and forecasting capabilities, and provide leadership to finance teams during a key transition period. A CPA designation and experience in a complex environment such as a holding company, family office, investment management, real estate, or similar organization would be highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Accounting

Lead financial reporting, accounting operations, and compliance activities across multiple business entities.

Oversee consolidations, intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and technical accounting matters.

Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring the timely delivery of financial information.

Monitor accounting standards and assess their impact on reporting and internal controls.

Support investment, treasury, and financing-related activities as required.
FP&A & Management Reporting

Lead budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and management reporting processes.

Provide financial insights and performance analysis to support strategic and operational decision-making.

Develop and enhance reporting tools, KPIs, and financial models to improve business visibility and planning.
Process Improvement & Finance Operations

Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting, controls, and operational efficiency.

Support finance systems enhancements, workflow improvements, and automation initiatives.

Strengthen documentation, procedures, and reporting frameworks to support effective business operations.
Leadership & Business Partnering

Provide leadership and guidance to finance team members and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.

Support a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

Serve as a trusted finance partner, helping drive key initiatives and maintain continuity across finance functions.
Qualifications

CPA or equivalent professional qualification.

8+ years of progressive finance experience, including team leadership or supervision of senior finance professionals.

Strong experience across FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, variance analysis, accounting operations, financial reporting, audits, and controls.

Strong communication, judgment, stakeholder management, business partnering, and team leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications / Assets

Experience in investment-related finance, asset management, family office, holding company, real estate, venture fund, or complex multi-entity environments.

Experience supporting process improvement, reporting enhancement, or system-enabled workflow initiatives.

Advanced Microsoft Office skills: ERP, planning, reporting, or Dynamics 365 experience is an asset.
