Job Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Dental Administrator to oversee the daily operations of our dental practice. The ideal candidate will manage administrative tasks, coordinate patient services, and support the dental team to ensure smooth clinic functioning. This role requires excellent communication skills, proficiency with dental management software, and a solid understanding of dental and medical terminology. The Dental Administrator will play a vital role in maintaining efficient office workflows, managing patient records, and supporting human resources functions within the practice.
Responsibilities
- Manage patient scheduling, appointment confirmations, and rescheduling to optimize clinic flow
- Maintain accurate electronic medical records using Open Dental
- Handle billing, coding, and insurance claims processing efficiently
- Supervise front desk staff and coordinate administrative workflows
- Assist with human resources tasks such as onboarding new staff, training, and performance evaluations
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and privacy standards (HIPAA)
- Oversee inventory management for dental supplies and office materials
- Support billing and budgeting processes to ensure financial health of the practice
- Facilitate communication between patients, dental providers, and external vendors or insurance companies
- Assist in implementing office policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency
Experience
- Prior experience in a dental office environment is a MUST
- Proficiency with Open Dental or other electronic medical/dental record systems is essential
- Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to dentistry and healthcare documentation
- Supervisory experience managing administrative or support staff is advantageous
- Experience with human resources functions such as staffing, training, and compliance management is desirable
- Familiarity with healthcare billing, coding, and insurance claim processes
- Background in budgeting or financial management within a healthcare setting is a plus
- Previous experience in acute care or nursing environments can be beneficial for understanding patient care workflows
