Quality Cheese Inc. is seeking a Pasteurizer (HTST) Operator for our Orangeville location who will be responsible to produce a variety of specialty cheese products according to prescribed recipes and formulations while ensuring daily production, packaging, quality, warehousing, and safety objectives are met or exceeded according to the Company’s SOPs and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Assemble, set up, calibrate, and run equipment and machinery according to daily production processing requirements and other applicable SOPs.
- Operation of Pasteurizers, CIP system, Milk receiving, and Whey pick-up functions.
- Ensure integrity, engagement and ownership of all the processes and actions; reporting any deviations immediately to the Cheese Maker or Manager, Plant Production.
- Accurately measure and mix ingredients using recipes and formulations and document measurements according to prescribed reporting standards.
- Analyze product and adjust process controls such as PH, temperature, antibiotic testing, sampling and texture to ensure consistent quality of products being produced.
- Operate, maintain, and clean/sanitize the equipment in the processing area according to HACCP and GMP standards.
- Record quality and inventory measurements and specifications for required reporting.
- Use good manual dexterity skills in hands and wrists for product handling, while standing for prolonged periods of time, bending, lifting, and handling of products of different sizes and weights.
- Ensure and validate all tools, materials, and product coding are correct, prior to being utilized.
- Must be flexible to rotate and operate all machines/stations and work between various shifts to support business demands.
- Participate in meetings with the Cheese Maker and/or Manager, Plant Production to discuss daily production improvement planning, business plan progress/results and share ideas.
- Perform safety and quality checks and record appropriate data, as required.
- Ensure machinery and equipment are clean, sanitized and in good working condition before and after use.
- Advise management immediately of safety concerns, machinery, and product quality issues.
- Strict adherence to all Company established procedures and policies, including Food Handling, Health and Safety, and GMPs.
- Special projects or other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum completion of Secondary Education (high school) preferred
- Completion of a post-secondary program in food technology or a related area an asset
- Minimum 6 months of previous experience in running Pasteurizer (HTST) operations and CIP operations, within the food manufacturing industry in a related role
- Preference for work experience in the Dairy industry
- Experience with Milk receiving, and Whey pick-up functions are an asset
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Strong mathematical aptitude
- Must be able to carry/lift 50 lbs.
- Must be detail oriented and have a strong sense of organization
- Able to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment
