PML Field Supervisor
Overview
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Field Supervisor is responsible for planning, scheduling, and supervising the duties of licensed tradespeople, apprentices, laborers engaged in the installation, fabrication, repair and maintenance of various types of equipment and machinery. They may also perform certain advanced journeyman level work in addition to inspecting work, support estimating and allocating job times and material costs, requisitioning supplies, researching equipment availability and other supervisor duties.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Advanced understanding of millwrighting, welding, and/or pipefitting and a strong ability to plan, assign, and supervise the work of employees.
- Extremely detail oriented, strong problem solving and negotiating skills.
- Extensive knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the work.
- Ability to express ideas effectively orally and in writing, and to interpret plans, blueprints, and various specifications.
- Help maintain strong, trustworthy, and lasting relationships with our existing and new clients that will ensure repeat business and free flowing referrals and focus on client relationships to grow and maintain core client base.
- Able to communicate business clearly and effectively with Clients.
- Focuses on client relationships to grow and maintain core client base.
- Possess solid time management skills and exercise considerable independence in managing employees and in choosing exact procedures to be used.
- Manage the day-to-day tradesperson activities of assigned projects and scheduling personnel.
- Perform morning safety talk with crews, ensure work is completed safely, contribute to the updating of company policies.
- Maintain professionalism, sensitivity, and tact to always portray the Company in a positive manner.
- Exercise considerable independent judgment in solving unusual work problems.
- Act as technical trade expert, diagnose and/or complete difficult problems/repairs.
- Ensure proper training and work procedures for all employees.
- Complete all documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
- Ensure that the company health and safety policies and procedures are followed.
- Coordinate with other departments.
- Maintains an inventory of tools, materials and parts; requisitions replacement supplies.
- Inspects work in progress and upon completion for adherence to assigned specifications, TSSA, ISO, QMC and safety standards.
- Performs administrative duties such as preparing time sheets and work progress reports, authorizing overtime and coaching employees.
- Performs related duties as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Valid Licensed trade certification in one of following (millwright, welder, machinist and/or pipefitter). Will consider other trades.
- Five years of proven supervisory experience.
- Extensive knowledge of the standard methods, materials and equipment used in the trades.
Work Conditions
- Field work (outdoors, dusty/dirty environments).
- Driving (sitting for extended periods, maintaining focus and alertness while operating company vehicle).
- At times it may be necessary to work outside of the regular workday in order to complete their duties.
- Overtime may be required.
- Availability to travel out of town.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $45.00-$55.00 per hour
