Bridge to Care Inc is a Faith-based Not for Profit Healthcare Organization that provides childcare services to families who have children/young adults with physical and mental disabilities.
When joining our team, you will work collaboratively with the parents and Program Coordinator to develop and implement strategies to help the clients overcome significant social, cognitive and behavioral challenges. You will have the freedom to propose and design appropriate activities and will work one-on-one with the children in their home environments, as well as public settings when appropriate.
Our ideal candidates should have experience with responsibility to provide personal care for individuals. Your main goal is to provide compassion and utmost care to children and individuals in need of relief. Patience and commitment are essential to a successful client and worker relationship. It is an asset to work well with others needs, schedules and routines.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Patience and temperament to work with children on various developmental levels
- Experience working with children in a group home, and public settings
- Experience working with special needs children
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
- Canada work authorization
- Valid Police Record check
- First Aid and CPR level C
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certificate or other related restraint and de-escalation training. Accepted equivalents include CPI, TCI and MANDT.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Monitors and evaluates care as provided
- Coaches other direct care staff in care areas as necessary
- Updates and monitors behaviours via tracking forms/whiteboards if applicable
- Implements care plan recommendations
- Participates in care conferences for person served and observes the general appearance of person served, seeking direction in determining usual emotional, social, behavioural, and physical pattern while recognizing obvious change in usual pattern
- Communicate effectively as required for taking direction and performing job-related activities, both verbally and non-verbally
- Participates in in-service education as required
Our ideal candidates would have experience in some or all of the following: caregiving, FASD Support, autistic spectrum disorders, family care, home health aide, palliative care, nursing care, client relations, special education, psychology, high behavioral clients and Non-violent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCI).
