Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Concrete Form Truck Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting goods and materials safely and efficiently while adhering to all traffic laws and company policies. This role requires a strong understanding of vehicle operation, maintenance, and the ability to navigate various routes. The Concrete Form Truck Driver will also assist in loading and unloading materials, ensuring that all cargo is secured for transport.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Understanding of City of Calgary roads specifications
- Drives the form truck to various work sites.
- Lays out concrete forms and pins for the required pieces that will be poured.
- Strips forms from concrete pieces already poured and cured.
- Loads and unloads the form truck with concrete forms.
- Secures loads for transportation as required.
- Keeps truck cab in clean and professional condition at all times.
- Completes daily accurate pre-inspections and post-inspections regulatory logs.
- Completes daily accurate hazard assessment sheets for all worksites.
- Ensures the form truck is returned to the company yard at the end of every shift.
- Identifies any form truck mechanical issues and advises the Service manager.
- Behaves in a manner that ensures the safety of themselves, their co-workers, and others on the work sites.
- Refuses all unsafe work and immediately reports all unsafe conditions and, behaviours to their supervisor.
- Reports incidents, injuries, and near misses and participates in the investigative process.
- Assists other employees when required.
- Attends and participates in toolbox and safety committee meetings as scheduled.
- Adheres to company policies, procedures, and directions regarding standards of workplace behaviour in completing job duties and assignments.
- Complies with the standards and procedures of North Star’s health and safety manual and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Minimum 2 year experience with truck/trailer driving.
- Active Standard First Aid Certification.
- Active Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) Certification.
- Active WHMIS Certification.
- Active Flagging Certification.
- Strong Knowledge of Calgary and surrounding area.
- Calculate and report correct productions.
- Ability to identify and describe mechanical issues on the truck/trailer.
- Self-motivating and able to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Understand and follow verbal and written directions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong work ethic with demonstrated dedication and reliability.
- Problem solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Must be able to work as a member of a greater team.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Must have own transportation.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
- Clean current drivers abstract.
- Must be able to work out of town.
- Must be able to lift and carry 50 – 75 lbs. forming material
- Must be able to work long hours and week-ends.
- Must have CSA approved safety boots.
