Position Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced Lead Hand / Gradesman to join our team. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing grading operations, coordinating crews, and ensuring work is completed accurately and efficiently to design specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and supervise grading crews on-site
Read and interpret site plans, grade stakes, and elevations
Set and verify grades using laser levels, GPS, or total station equipment
Coordinate daily tasks with operators, labourers, and project managers
Ensure work is completed to specification, on schedule, and within tolerance
Maintain a strong focus on job site safety and compliance
Troubleshoot grading and site issues in real time
Communicate effectively with foremen, engineers, and inspectors
Qualifications
Minimum 3–5 years experience in grading and site servicing
Proven experience as a Lead Hand or senior gradesman
Strong knowledge of site plans, elevations, and drainage requirements
Experience with GPS
Ability to operate equipment (dozer, excavator, skid steer) is an asset
Strong leadership and communication skills
Valid driver’s license (AZ/DZ considered an asset)
