Destinations Seniors Downsizing is a Calgary-based specialty moving and downsizing company serving seniors and their families. We provide full-service packing, moving, organizing, and estate clear-out support with compassion, professionalism, and attention to detail. Our work goes beyond moving boxes — we help clients navigate important life transitions with dignity and care.
This is a part-time employee position (not subcontractor). Team members are covered under WCB.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a 16-foot cube truck
- Load, unload, and transport furniture and household items with care
- Pack, unpack, and organize belongings in clients’ homes and retirement communities
- Disassemble and reassemble furniture as needed
- Manage inventory of bins, boxes, and moving supplies
- Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Ensure company truck is clean, organized, and properly secured
- Exercise sound judgment to prioritize tasks efficiently on job sites
- Complete daily timecards accurately and promptly
- Handle valuable and fragile items with exceptional attention to detail
- Provide compassionate, patient support to senior clients during emotionally sensitive transitions
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while working inside private homes
- Represent the company positively when interacting with clients and their families
- Adapt to varying duties depending on the needs of each project
- Willingness to learn new skills (fragile packing techniques, picture hanging, basic tech setup, etc.)
Requirements
- Strong team player (we work in teams of 2–6 people)
- Professional, respectful, and well-groomed presentation
- Able to lift a minimum of 75 lbs
- Comfortable working in various environments (stairs, tight spaces, hot/cold conditions)
- Comfortable working in homes with pets
- Emotionally mature, client-sensitive, and able to work with seniors experiencing major life transitions
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable
- Non-smoking/vaping during shifts
Must Have
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence
- Clean driver’s abstract
- Experience and confidence driving a 16-foot cube truck
- Access to reliable transportation to and from job sites
Assets (Preferred)
- Experience working with seniors
- Previous residential moving experience
- Basic handyman skills

Schedule & Hours
- Shifts generally fall between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM on weekdays
- Hours fluctuate based on workload
- Slower weeks may have limited hours
- Busy periods may involve 30+ hours per week and multiple consecutive days
- Occasional weekends may be required with advance notice
- The upcoming week’s schedule is typically released on Fridays
- Applicants must be available Monday–Friday between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM, even though weekly hours vary
Flexibility and prompt confirmation of availability are essential.
Compensation & Hiring Requirements
- $20–$30 per hour, based on experience
- Police Clearance check required upon hiring
- Driver’s licence copy and driver’s abstract required
